Two years before Hurricane Katrina wreaked death and devastation on his hometown of New Orleans, he moved to Houston and started a production studio with a friend before breaking out on his own.
Now with the group SpaceTime Academy, with whom he formerly worked as an engineer, Alias has been self-producing his own music ever since.
Joined by Kemo Paul, I sat down and chopped it up with Alias during my website release party weekend in July.
“I work a 9-to-5 to fund my own music so I don’t have to owe anybody anything back; I don’t have to answer to anybody…the only people I’m talking to and discussing things with are the members of my team.”
